A BATTLE is brewing on the Gold Coast this Easter as the city’s restaurants vie to create the craziest desserts.
From milkshakes served in Easter bunnies to custard-filled hot cross buns, chefs are pulling out all the stops.
Arif Memis of Cowch at Pacific Fair said the dessert bar’s bunny shake — a Cadbury Easter bunny filled with thickshake — was “selling like hot cakes”.
“There’s definitely a lot of friendly banter and friendly competition between restaurant owners over who’s going to create the most innovative dessert,” Mr Memis said
“Our bunny shake is such a crowd favourite, a lot of other places copied us when we released it last year so we’ve brought it back this year as ‘the original’ bunny shake.
“We’re selling about 50 a day and it’s only going to get busier as we get closer to the Easter weekend.
“We’ve totally cleaned out Big W’s Easter section.”
Mr Memis said the Easter menu also featured a crème egg cocktail and caramello surprise pancake stack.
“The chocolate pancakes are topped with salted caramel, mini marshmallows, pretzels and Tim Tams (for $23.50) and we also have a Creme Egg Cocktail ($18.95).”
