Fisherman dies after being washed off rocks from Lennox Head, south of the Gold Coast

A fisherman has died after he was washed off rocks while fishing at a popular beach in northern NSW.

AN ANGLER has died after he was washed off rocks while fishing at Lennox Head.

The man was fishing from rocks at Boulder Beach at midday today, with police believing he was washed into the ocean.

Surfers went to help the man and support him in the water on a surfboard.

He was returned to land unconscious.

Attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.

A report will be prepared by police for he coroner.

Police are continuing to investigate.
