THE sometimes sleepy suburb of Tugun will soon be home to the fastest paced craft beer joint on the Gold Coast.
Construction of The Craft House has started, with the men behind the venture – cousins Gareth and Chris Sharples – so intent on showcasing craft beer they’ll only buy one keg at a time.
“So there’s 20 different beer taps and I’ll be changing the kegs daily,” general manager Jacob Lowe said.
“As soon as one keg finishes we’ll clean the line and replace it with a completely different keg, not just replace it with the same beer.
“They’re all Australian beers as well. It’s going to be a full time job just sourcing all those different beers.”
CRAFT BEER UNLIKELY TO BE CHEAPER ON COAST DESPITE TAX REFORM
For the generation reading and thinking “damn hipsters”, there will be a small selection of bottled classics, but Mr Lowe is confident if you just give the hipsters a chance, they might teach you a thing or two.

“We will have some packaged beers that won’t be as obscure and crafty, because not everyone is a GC hipster and there will be guys that come in wanting a XXXX Gold,” he said.
“But all the bar staff will be extremely knowledgeable on craft beers, so if the older guys come in and say they want a XXXX, the bar staff can recommend a craft beer that’s similar and possibly even better.
