SURFERS Paradise is set to welcome a new beachfront bar and restaurant described as a Mediterranean playground for adults.
Hyde Paradiso will take over the space formerly occupied by Peppers’ Seaduction Restaurant and relaunch as an evening lounge bar and bistro on April 1.
Executive chef Joel Bryant, formerly of Oskars on Burleigh, says the venue will be like nothing else on offer on the Gold Coast. “It’s very different from anything I’ve seen on the Coast,” Joel says.
“It’s going to be one of those great places people will want to meet and be seen in groups. “It’s not a bar, it’s not a pub, it is that little bit higher end, not only in the drinking but also in the food offering.”
The Hyde brand is already well known in the US for its bars and restaurants where celebrations carry on well into the night. Hyde Paradiso will be the company’s first venture in the Asia Pacific.
COAST’S NEW MEXICAN RESTAURANT WITH A TWIST
“It’s mainly based in America — there’s some (Hyde venues) in California, some in Miami. They’re late-night venues, they’re not nightclubs, the demographic is 25-plus,” Joel says.
“One of the busiest properties is at the Ballagio in Vegas — a high-end, poolside venue, open all day. We’re being a bit more refined than that. It’s going to be a high-end bar and we are definitely making it Gold Coast orientated.”
The refreshments will focus on lively cocktails prepared at the 12-metre bar, and the share-style food options will take influence from Greek, Lebanese and Turkish cooking.
Spanakopita, sumac squid and heirloom tomato with whipped fetta appear on the opening menu. Joel’s shared table will feature plant-based salads and freshly made dips including his twist on traditional taramasalata.

NEW VENUE TO BRING VEGAS FLAIR TO BROADBEACH
The interior will feature hues of blue, white and peach throughout terrazzos and mosiac tiles and cascading greenery that will flow out to the large balcony with 180-degree views of the ocean.
Hyde Paradiso will also offer the Sgroppino Room, which can be booked as a VIP area with its own bartender.
