Women raving about ‘flattering’ new $12 Kmart bikini

Shoppers have spotted a new swimwear item on Kmart shelves that’s not only cheap, but also has a built in feature that gives a confidence boost.

Kmart has launched a new swimsuit range and top of the picks is a “flattering” two-piece that comes in a few different prints.

Gold Coast shopper Amanda, who runs affordable fashion blog She Wore It With, recently shared a photo wearing the striped Kmart cossie, describing the fit as “everything”.

“This @kmartaus high waist bikini is EVERYTHING!! Loving a higher waist brief and the minimalist stripe in a subtle green is a bit of me. I can’t fault this set! True to size, I’m a 14,” Amanda wrote.

The briefs cost $12 and the wide strap crop has a matching price tag, meaning the set comes in at $24 – a steal when you consider leading swim brands charge over $150 for similar bikinis.

Understandably, the photo prompted a flurry of impressed comments.

“Looks so good! I love the high waist,” one said.

“Ok I need this !!! So gorge,” another wrote.

While one declared: “This is awesome... Off to Kmart I go.”

Amanda also shared a video trying on a variety of the discount superstore’s new swimmers, including the bikini in a black with orange flowers and a white version with blue blooms.

She’s not the only influencer who has spotted the new collection, with Queensland’s Jessica Louise Allen sharing a reel on Instagram trying the new cossies on.

“I’m a little nervous to post my first ever swimwear try on, but as I walked past the new swimwear section in @kmartaus I thought what the heck I’ll give it a go, despite it being the middle of winter,” she wrote.

As well as the bikinis, Jessica tried on a navy and white V-neck swimsuit that retails for $22.

“I need that full piece,” one wrote, as another agreed: “I love the one piece.”

While the stripped bikini is currently only in WA and QLD stores, it is set to hit shelves in other states in September.

Jamie Chugg, Kmart’s women's seasonal buyer, said the swimwear collection was perfect for anyone dreaming about “warm sunshine-filled days at the moment”.

“It’s all about tropical prints, abstract florals, stripes and special details (think knot ties and rings),” she said.

“But we have a special focus on fit, which shapes sure to offer a flattering fit for everybody, every day.

“Our resort-ready khaki and white stripe bikini crop is elevated with a textural rib. It can be paired back with our high-waisted bikini briefs that have in-built shaping for support, comfort and smoothing.
