We don’t know about you, but shopping is our favourite form of cardio. And as we head into the holiday season, we’re bracing ourselves for elevated heart rates—for rummaging through racks, grabbing the last shoe in your size, and throwing things into your figurative cart. 

If you’ve been wanting to indulge in a similar form of sartorial exercise, you’re in luck. Fashion’s biggest night is back for 2023—that is, Vogue American Express’s Fashion Night Out (more affectionately known as VAEFNO), a spring/summer style and retail bonanza that will land in Sydney on Thursday October 19, and on Thursday October 26 in Melbourne as a part of Melbourne Fashion Week.

As always, VAEFNO will be a completely free event, open to all who drop by. Enjoy live runways, performances from emerging musical artists, in-store installations and experiences, and the annual shop, scan and win competition, which in 2023, will put you in the running to win $10,000.

When is VAEFNO Melbourne 2023?

VAEFNO Melbourne 2023 will grace the Victorian city on October 26, in the middle of Melbourne Fashion Week, which will run from October 23 to 29. 

When is VAEFNO Sydney 2023?

This year, VAEFNO Sydney will take place before its Victorian counterpart, popping up in the CBD on Thursday October 19.

What is happening in VAEFNO Sydney and Melbourne 2023?

While the full program of events for Vogue American Express’s highly anticipated Fashion’s Night Out is yet to be released, there are pillar events that you have to look forward to, as well as rewards for shopping as the event unfolds. 

Amongst the vast number of shopping opportunities you’ll be able to take advantage of is one offered by American Express, who is offering Eligible Card Members access to a Card Member Offer. Save the exclusive offer to your card any time from October 18 to 29, spend $50 or more at a participating in-store or online retailer, and you’ll be able to receive $10 up to four times. It’s an offer limited to the first $75,000 eligible cards to save the offer however, so move quickly—there’s no time to waste. 

On the topic of retailers, 2023 will see over 800 participate across Sydney and Melbourne’s shopping precincts, as well as online. On Sydney’s Pitt Street on the evening of October 19, make room in your calendar for the two-part Vogue American Express Runway, as well as a panel centred on Stories of Bangarra Dance Theatre, conveyed through costume design. Both Sydneysiders and Melburnians will also see the return of the Amex More Machine, which will give you the chance to win concert tickets, lounge passes, and other fashion-adjacent prizes. 

Amex Afters, VAEFNO’s very own post-shopping cool-down, will take place at the Babylon Rooftop & Garden Bar in Sydney, and at Federal Coffee in Melbourne, where drinks and complimentary beverages will be accompanied by live music.
