Bold fashion choices have turned heads during the Spring Racing Carnival, with swimming star Shayna Jack standing out among the crowd.

Moet & Chandon Spring Champion Stakes Day kicked off at Sydney’s Randwick Racecourse and the Cox Plate took place at Moonee Valley Racecourse on October 26.

Australian swimmer Brianna Throssell stood out from the crowd after wearing a fluorescent orange set to the Cox Plate race.

The Olympian and Gold medallist wore a strapless dress by Jason Grech with a straight neckline before the corset-style bodice turned into a full length skirt.

Throssell’s dress also had an intricate three-dimensial flower detailing on the dress, which she finished off with a gold head piece.

Her brunette locks were styled loosely around her face, and she didn’t wear and jewellery on her neck and arms.

Throssell, who is an ambassador for the race, attended alongside her fiance Josh Milner.

“It is nice spending some time in Melbourne with Joel and his family and I am also spending time in Perth with my family,” Throssell told the Herald Sun.

Meanwhile fellow Olympian Jack was also in attendance, with the pair posing up a storm together.

Jack wore a red and pink mini dress from By Johnny, which had boning detailing and a bow in the centre of the bust.

However, it was really her large and in charge fascinator that stole the show, with the beautiful piece given the illusion of flower petals falling.

One simply called the look “stunning”.

Seven Racing journalist Emily Riordan attended the Cox Plate race, wearing a bright blue dress with spaghetti straps.

The 28-year-old’s dress featured a bold Spring with nautical symbols and greenery on the frock.

She styled her brunette hair loosely around her face with a chunky white headband.

Other attendees included AFL player Bailey Scott, who plays for North Melbourne, and fashion model Bella Henry.

Scott wore a light blue suit with a white shirt and a light pink tie, which matched Henry’s dress.

Henry’s satin pink dress had a retro feel to it, with bell sleeves and a looser fitting skirt. She finished the look with a matching headband and a white headband.

Moonee Valley Racecourse has a more modern approach to race day wear, allowing men to wear neat polo tops, denim jeans and shorts.

Women can also wear smart casual shoes and denim jeans, in the club’s bid to be “progressive”.

However, there are some banned items including ripped jeans, sandals and thongs, caps and beanies.

Meanwhile, up in Sydney, the Moet & Chandon Spring Champion Stakes Day also drew a crowd. However, the dress code for the event was a “touch of pink”.

Content creator Tara Milk Tea, who was promoting the Whispering Angel marquee at the event, got the memo when it came to the colour scheme.

Tara wore a strapless pink ballgown that had white and red flower detailing on the dress.

She had her long, dark locks styled in loose curls around her face with a large pink netting on her head.

Meanwhile YouTuber Sammy Robinson opted to ditch the pink altogether and wore a more neutral look. Her friends followed her lead, also opting for tones of green, black and brown for their ensembles.

It comes just a week after the $20 million TAB Everest Day — the world’s richest race on turf — and the $5 million King Charles III Stakes.

For the first time in the race’s eight year history it was sold out before the big event with 50,000 people in attendance.

More than 30 per cent of tickets were for Australians under the age of 25, and more than half of these buyers were women.

The 2024 Sydney Everest Carnival spans nine weeks from 21 September to 9 November, with a prize pool of $85 million.
