Shein roasted by horrified women for $16 ‘dental floss’ swimsuit

A jaw-droppingly tiny swimsuit being is being roasted by horrified women who say the “extreme wedgie” looks painful.

Fashion e-tailer Shein launches in Australia

Women have been left horrified by a jaw-droppingly tiny “dental floss” swimsuit being sold by controversial online retailer Shein.

The Chinese brand’s “SXY Rhinestone Studded One-Piece Swimsuit” retails for $US12 ($A16), but has left women everywhere scratching their heads for a variety of reasons.

One of the most obvious concerns is the strap that goes across the wearer’s genital area, which is so tiny, many have argued it can’t possibly contain the body part.

Then there’s the fact wearing the cheap nylon material would arguably cause a yeast infection.

Social media has blown up over the swimmers, with women mocking the one-piece – and that’s not even taking into account the photos of the model which look suspiciously like they have been airbrushed.

“What in tha ‘she’s gonna wake up with a yeast infection’ is this? Does she have it on backwards? Do real women actually wear this (as a swimsuit)? I have so many questions,” one woman wrote on Facebook.

“Excuse me it’s a what now? It’s a wedgie you pay for more like,” another posted.

As one woman remarked, “There’s not even $12 worth of fabric there,” as another wrote: “Lawd have mercy!”

Another asked: “Is this a for real ‘bathing suit’? Where do your lady bits go?”

At least one person mused that the model looked uncomfortable wearing the swimmers.

“Um she can’t even stand straight in this suit. It’s suspicious.”

“By looking at the pic, I feel so much pain in just wearing that,” another added.

While one simply declared: “Ouccccccch…”

Other eagle-eyed commenters called out the apparent Photoshop action on the product’s image.

“I don’t know which needs attention first … the dislocated or missing hip (can’t work out which it is) or the other missing area. Are Shein’s designers and picture editors permanently drunk?” one woman asked.

The fast-fashion brand has become a global phenomenon since it launched in 2008 and now operates in 220 countries and regions.

It launched in Australia last year, marking its arrival Down Under with a runway show in Sydney last November.

The digital outlet offers affordable clothing for women but is best-known for its “dupes” of well-known brands and designers. It also sells men’s and children’s clothes alongside accessories and footwear.

Shein quickly became a firm favourite among influencers who couldn’t afford to shell out big bucks to look a million dollars every day, while simultaneously attracting criticism for its apparent “unethical” business model and its environmental consequence.
