Salvation Army trialling fancy new op shop concept in Sydney

Forget rummaging to find a bargain - this new Sydney Salvos store only offers customers expensive designer items at discount prices.

Taking the Salvos Sleep Out to new heights

The Salvation Army has taken things to a whole new level with its latest op shop.

The store, which is set to open in Bondi Junction next Thursday, not only boasts a fancy new layout, but it stocks a variety of designer clothes at bargain prices.

At the front and centre of the store is the “O by Salvos” boutique section where you will find all the high end brands at very affordable prices.

For example, you can nab a Zimmerman trench coat which usually retails for more than $1000, for just $150. Or a pair of Golden Goose mens sneakers valued at over $800, for an impressive $200.

Other notable brands and items include YSL and Louis Vuitton handbags, a pair of Burberry trousers and a Gucci jacket.

However, those who are after more Aussie designers can get their hands on Sass and Bide and Camilla and Marc items for as little as $40.

The store also has a ‘mens’, ‘women's’ and ‘footwear’ section which stocks equally as impressive brands such as Ralph Lauren and Seafolly in the swimwear aisle.

For those wondering, the ‘O’ symbolises both the last letter of Salvo and the circular economy created by the cycle of sustainability.

Store manager Tyasha Berden described the charity’s new approach as “remarkable”, adding it is unlike anything she has ever seen.

The fancy new store is located on Oxford Street and is the third “O by Salvos” concept trialled in Australia.

The other two opened in Melbourne and Marrickville earlier this year — however, they are not as swanky as the eastern suburbs store.

Doors officially open on Thursday, December 16, just in time for some last minute Christmas shopping.

Trading hours are Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm and the store is also looking for both good quality donations and volunteers.
