Paraiso Miami Beach: Beach Bunny swimwear show causes stir

A swimwear show starring a former Playboy bunny has caused a stir as some accuse the “sexy” brand of missing the mark completely.

Have these outrageous bikini trends gone too far?

A former Playboy model has caused a stir with a sizzling runway appearance at Paraiso Miami Beach – as some slam a lack of “diversity” at the show.

Joy Corrigan, who rose to fame after posing for the raunchy lads mag in 2017, walked the catwalk for “sexy” swimwear brand Beach Bunny at the 2023 industry event – which was previously part of Miami Swim Week.

The 28-year-old donned three racy bikinis during her appearance, which many of her 955,000 followers described as a “killer” show.

Corrigan modelled a pink latex two piece from the American designer, which featured a halter-neck top and miniscule bottoms.

The undies were held together by an oversized gold clasp while the top appeared to be worn in an “upside down” style.

She finished the look with a pair of red stiletto boots and giant gold hoops.

The former Playmate then took to the runway in a classic red bikini which she paired with silver strappy heels.

Corrigan posed at the end of the catwalk by looking over her shoulder, revealing the cossie bottoms had minimal coverage at the back, flaunting her booty.

Finally, Corrigan appeared in black swimmers that had been paired with matching long gloves.

Both the bra and undies had a tuxedo-style bow detailing on them.

“Pure JOY walking for @beachbunnyswimwear, thanks so much for having me again fam,” the model wrote on Instagram on Saturday.

Corrigan’s fans were quick to praise the former Sports Illustrated swimsuit model, who booked her first ever show at the age of 14 after being scouted in a shopping mall.

“You are GLOWING,” one wrote.

“Killed it, per usual,” another said.

As one simply declared: “You’re kidding WOW.”

But not everyone was enthralled by Beach Bunny’s show, with some slamming a video shared by the label on Instagram that showed all their models, claiming it wasn’t “inclusive” enough.

“99 per cent of models on that runway are not even close to being realistic,” one lamented.

“Wow… a bunch of tiny mostly white women. So much variety,” another noted sarcastically.

As one commented: “It would be nice to see more realistic body types. One plus size model just doesn’t do it.”

However, other brands who showcased bikini trends and swimwear designs at the industry event – held for the first time outside of Miami Swim Week to assist with “market shifts” – have been praised for displaying an array of different bodies.

Columbian brand OneOne was praised after its famous block colour cossies were rocked by “real” women on the catwalk.

Meanwhile US designer Lain Snow unveiled a range of swimming suits that can be worn by the whole family, marking a new trend of matching cossies for mum, dad and all the kids.

“My jaw is literally on the floor!!!!! Sincerely gasped,” one wrote about the collection on Instagram.

“The matching sets are too cute,” another commented.

Paraiso Miami Beach usually takes place within Miami Swim Week, which kicks off on July 3, ending on July 10 this year.

The industry event was moved forward a month to assist stockists and production with stock demands.
