Disaster as not one, but two stars get stuck in an escalator at TikTok Awards 2025

A popular WAG was “terrified” when she got caught in a moving piece of machinery at a huge Sydney event – but she wasn’t the only one.

A Melbourne WAG has detailed the “terrifying” moment her floor-length gown got caught in an escalator, resulting in police having to step in and free her.

Lexi Lobb, 26, was visiting Sydney for the 2025 TikTok Awards Australia, but unfortunately her big night out took a terrible turn.

The model was heading into the TikTok Entertainment Centre, formerly known as the ICC Sydney Theatre, when her custom gold dress from Ji Noire Atelier got caught in an escalator.

What ensued was immediate chaos, as several NSW Police officers rushed to help free the new Mrs Lobb from the motorised staircase.

“This would only happen to me at an event,” she explained in a video, before the clip then cuts to footage filmed when she was stuck.

In the less-than-10-second clip, Lobb records from above as the helpful cops are bent over on the now static escalator, desperate tugging at the fabric.

It then shows the gown missing a large chunk, before zooming in on the remnants of her dress left behind in the teeth of the machine after she was rescued.

Fans were quick to share sympathy for her plight, despite the fact Lobb demonstrated humour at the situation.

“I bet you still rocked that dress,” said one.

“Oh no!! So this is why they were asking us to watch our dresses after,” added another.

As one seemingly shouted: “NOOOO LEXIIII. I HOPE EVERYTHING IS ALRIGHT NOW.”

Unfortunately, Lobb wasn’t the only social media star who suffered the same fate, with influencer Ella Vivian also revealing it happened to her.

In her own video, Vivian explained security had to “close down the entrance to the TikTok Awards because I broke the escalator with my dress”.

“Highly suggest holding up a maxi dress while going up an escalator,” she said in the clip, which showed her lemon gown – that she had hired from Sherri Lee Boutique especially for the event – caught in the teeth of the machine.

Vivian too saw the funny side, despite getting stuck, and posed for a number of photos and videos while she was being freed from the grip of the motorised staircase.

The young content creator, who has almost 200,000 followers, appears to have had more luck than Lobb, with security able to remove a panel and free the gown.

The rented dress appeared to have been slightly damaged during the ordeal, with small tears in the underlayer.

“Oh my Lord! Glad you escaped,” replied one follower to Vivian’s word of warning.

“Same thing happened to another girl and they cut her dress instead of taking apart the escalator,” noted someone else.

As one joked: “The escalator was jealous.”

Sherri Lee Boutique said it “prides itself at offering easy, affordable luxury garments”, but stressed “things can go wrong on a night out”.

“As a small emerging business located in the south east suburbs of Melbourne, we were beyond excited and honoured that our dress was hired for the 2025 TikTok awards,” a spokesperson told news.com.au.

“Although, being a small business and a dress hire company does come with ups and downs, the last thing we want is for our customers to be stressed about issues that may arise and ruin their night.

“In this case, damage was made to the $580 dress but Ella has been nothing but the sweetest soul in this hiring process and immediately offered to pay for the damages.

“At the end of the day, whether the dress has to be altered or replaced the most important thing is that Ella had a great night which is our number one priority for all of customers.”

Social media users also noted it was “wild” that the same thing happened to two women at the same event, which had 8000 attendees.

“No way, so crazy,” said one.

“This is the second dress caught I’ve seen at the TikTok Awards,” shared another.

While someone else asked: “No because why did this happen to more than one person?!”

News.com.au has contacted Lobb, Vivian and Sherri Lee Boutique for further comment.
