Brownlow red carpet 2021: The best looks from AFL night of nights

At the 2021 Brownlow Awards last night, a footy star’s glamorous girlfriend stole the show wearing a $5k wedding dress with a sexy thigh split.

It’s the glitziest night on the calendar for AFL players and their partners.

But while players ditched their team colours for slick suits – all eyes were on their other halves, with one WAG stealing the spotlight with her attention-demanding ensemble.

Georgia Mitchell graced the red carpet at Optus Stadium in Perth alongside her footy star boyfriend Sam Collins in a billowing wedding gown that featured a racy thigh-high split.

The qualified paramedic wore a bespoke Karen Willis Holmes design with statement shoulders and a plunging neckline. The dress retails for $4590 and comes with the option for a “modesty panel” – a detail Georgia didn’t go for during her glamorous appearance.

She opted for natural make-up and a slick ponytail, posing with her left leg on full display alongside her Gold Coast Suns boyfriend who didn’t let the fact he was in a moon boot stop him from walking the carpet.

White gowns appeared to be a theme of the night, with Olivia May, partner of Port Adelaide’s Ollie Wines, wearing one that featured cut outs across her chest and a sheer skirt on Sunday night.

Tory Packer, girlfriend of Hawthorn star Jaeger O’Meara, 27, also went for a white dress.

The gown featured a corset design with racy cut outs that flaunted her fit figure, while its flowing skirt showed a glimpse of leg.

Nicky Simpson, wife of West Coast Eagles coach Adam Simpson, also opted for white, wearing a simple figure-hugging dress for the occasion.

While AFL commentator Abbey Holmes wore a killer one-shoulder white gown from Cappellazzo Couture, styled by celebrity fashion stylist Lana Wilkinson.

Other showstopping outfits included swimwear model Codi Galvin, the partner of Fremantle Dockers player Luke Ryan, who wore a stunning black strapless gown to the annual event.

Brooke Parker, girlfriend of Dom Sheed from the West Coast Eagles, made a statement in a red one-shoulder gown with a flowing Grecian design.

Former politician Julie Bishop, 65, also attended the sports night of nights wearing a glam black gown with sheer detailing. She teamed the look with metallic heels and sparkly, drop earrings, posing beside longtime partner David Panton, 60.

Other WAG’s opted for rather unique designs, including Lauren O’Shannassy, wife of retired Fremantle star Matthew Pavlich, who wore a pink printed gown with a pussy bow tie.

Hasina Baluch, the partner of Richmond star Shai Bolton, chose a trendy silk slip dress in a bronze hue, teaming it with matching dark make-up.

However not everyone was able to make their mark on the red carpet, with two women accidentally wearing the same bow-style gown.

WAGS Rebecca Demlakian and Sarah Cumming arrived on the Brownlow Medal red carpet wearing the exact same dress, with some dubbing the fashion faux pas as “awkward”.

Their black gowns with white, bow detailing across the shoulders were almost identical aside from the fact Rebecca’s skirt swept the floor while Sarah had hers taken up to sit on her ankles.

The pair were all smiles despite the unfortunate dress mishap, posing alongside their AFL star partners.

Rebecca, the fiancee of Stephen Coniglio of the Giants, wore her dark hair back, some loose strands framing her face. While Sarah wore her blonde locks down for the occasion, posing beside husband Stuart Dew.
