Eddie's Grub House will be transformed into new venue The Pink Hotel on Gold Coast

ONE of the regions best known burger joints will be transforming into a red-hot new venue on the southern Gold Coast.

BURGER bar Eddie’s Grub House is transforming the oldest building in Coolangatta into a red-hot new venue, The Pink Hotel.

Popular food and live music venue Eddie’s, downstairs in the Ocean View Motel in Griffith Street, is spreading its wings and taking over the entire building, now known as The Pink Hotel.

Opened in 2015 by good mates Zack Manoel, Elliott Balk, Samuel Cleary, Samuel Diklich and Claes Loberg, Eddie’s has carved a reputation for live music, burgers and whisky.

Buoyed by the venue’s success, Eddie’s owners had been looking for a bigger site or potential property for a sister venue when they found the answer not so much under their nose, as above it.

The partners plan to turn the iconic Cooly property into a unique, cool boutique hotel.

The building is being refurbished as a sort of “home away from home for musicians, artists, writers and wild wanderers”, with Eddie’s to entertain guests and run the property’s whisky and burger room service menu.

Work on the refurbishment has started, with the new-look venue aiming to welcome its first guests in October.

Connecting Southern Gold Coast reports Mr Loberg and his partners have drawn inspiration from “cooler hotels” around the world they had stayed in everywhere from LA to Palm Springs, London and New York,

“We’re imagining a ‘Pink Chelsea Hotel’ on the beach, with a CBGB’s downstairs for this generation’s emerging artists and creators,” Mr Loberg said.
