Emily Ratajkowksi is firing back at critics who have come for her skimpy outfits.
Sitting down with Glamour UK for a new interview, the 32-year-old model and businesswoman revealed that she’s reached a point in life where she now cares “a whole lot less what people think”, especially when it comes to her fashion choices.
“So, if I am in a certain type of mood where I want to post something or wear something that I could be judged for because it’s, quote-unquote ‘desperate’, I’m a little bit like, ‘Well, that’s where I’m at’,” she told the publication, according to Page Six.
Ratajkowski added that she’s learned to put her “own happiness” first as she’s gotten older, and has “bigger fish to fry than caring about the politics of whether or not I’m appealing to the male gaze in a given moment”.
The My Body author is known for regularly wearing revealing looks, whether it’s a winter crop top for a casual day out, see-through dresses that showcase her bra or a Y2K-inspired cutout.
Still, she insisted she’s just living her life, and not worried about others’ opinions.
“I guess where I am is a little bit of a true liberation, in a personal sense, in the way that I just don’t really give a f**k,” she said.
Despite her carefree attitude, elsewhere in the same interview the Gone Girl actor said she is secretly self-conscious, and confessed she’s “so afraid of people not taking me seriously”.
She also said she would advise women and girls to “stop torturing” themselves, though admitted, “I still kind of do, about everything; about the days that I don’t look great or I’m not dressed sexy or when I am dressed sexy, and it’s just constant”.
Earlier this week, she took to Instagram to share a photo of herself in a low-cut black dress, seemingly channelling her less insecure side.
“Decided I’m never beating the bimbo allegations so why not lean in, you know?” she captioned the post.
