THE GOLD COAST Show is expected to sell thousands of showbags this year, with organizers saying they’re more popular than ever.

As for the top sellers, PJ Masks and LOL Surprise take home the prizes for most popular among show-goers, but the demand for showbags has increased all around.

Owner of Showtime Showbags Mitchell Peers said more and more people were prepared to fork out their hard-earned dollars for showbags in spite of the rise in price.

“The quality of the showbags these days is certainly a lot better than it used to be and that’s why the prices have gone up, that’s why they are up to $30 for a showbag,” he said.

“Someone from the Show Society bought a bag last year, a Girls Rule bag, and they’ve been on a couple of overseas holidays.

“It’s just assumed it would fall apart but it’s been to Fiji twice and they couldn’t believe the quality of a backpack, it doesn’t break and it lasts a long time.”

According to Mr Peers, the showbags have now become a chance for adults to share the fun of the show with their own children.

“What I see a lot of is parents taking their kids to the show and trying to introduce them to what a show is, what it’s all about,” he said.

“It’s because the parents did that when they were kids and now they’re passing on that excitement to their kids.”
