It’s time to get into the Christmas spirit.
With Christmas just around the corner, Gold Coasters are warming their voices up for the annual carol celebrations.
Whether you’re a superstar or vocally shy, there is an event to please everyone.
Family Carols at the School
When: Friday December 5, 6pm to 7.30pm.
Where: Surfers Paradise Primary School, St Andrews Avenue, Isle of Capri
A showcase of the school’s musical talent. Bring a picnic and rug and sit back and enjoy the evening’s entertainment.
Carols in the Park Upper Coomera
When: Saturday December 6, 5pm to 9.30pm.
Where: John Siganto Park, 639 Reserve Road, Upper Coomera
Community Christmas event with carols, Santa, BBQ and soft drinks. All welcome.
Nerang Celebrates Christmas
When: Saturday December 6, 3pm to 8.30pm
Where: Bischof Pioneer Park, Nerang Street, Nerang
A fun-filled family event with rides and free entertainment. Traditional carols from 6pm featuring solo artists and the community choir accompanied by the Salvation Army Band. A visit from Santa plus a sausage sizzle and a variety of food stalls will be available, with a fireworks finale at 8.30pm.
Mudgeeraba Neighbourhood Watch Christmas Carols
When: Saturday December 6, 5.30pm to 8pm.
Where: Langport Park, Mudgeeraba (corner Lincoln Street and Humberside Close)
Community carols and a sausage sizzle. Bring a rug and get to know your neighbours in a relaxed atmosphere. Also features a jumping castle, sausage sizzle, ice cream, and the rural fire brigade truck.
Runaway Bay Carols by Candlelight
When: Saturday December 5, 5pm to 8pm.
Where: Kevin Bycroft Field, Lae Drive, Runaway Bay (adjacent to the Runaway Bay Library)
Free family entertainment presented. Bring your family and friends, sit back and enjoy live Christmas Carols with Gold Coast School Choirs, a visit from Santa and a fireworks spectacular at 8.30pm.
Carols Under the Stars - Robina
When: Sunday December 7, 4pm to 8pm
Where: CBUS Super Stadium, Centreline Place, Robina
The Kids Family Fun Fair will open at 4pm and includes kid’s activities, animal nursery, jumping castles, face painters, exhibitors and stage shows. Carols Under the Stars kicks off at 6pm. There will also be a fireworks display and a visit by Santa. Free shuttle buses will be available from Burleigh Heads State School, Stockland Shopping Centre, Treetops and a park and ride shuttle from Robina Town Centre car park.
Christmas on Tedder
When: Sunday December 7, 6pm to 11pm.
Where: Tedder Avenue, Main Beach
This free Christmas event will kick-off with community carols featuring Jacob Lee and Candice Skjonnemand from ‘The Voice 2014’ along with local artists and a special visit from Santa and his helpers. The carols will be followed by a rocking street party with internationally renowned performer Glenn Shorrock and band.
Studio Village Community Carols
When: Sunday December 7, 6pm to 8.45pm.
Where: Movie World Car Park, Oxenford
The lineup includes a traditional Welcome to Country, a Maori drumming group, plus a fun-filled line up of sing-a-long Christmas Carols by local performers including Jenna Dearness-Dark from ‘The Voice 2013’ and The Blenders. There will also be guest appearances by the Movie World Santa Bugs at 6:30pm, a visit from Santa before 8pm and the Club Helensvale fireworks display at 8.45pm. Also on offer is a prize for the child in the best Christmas costume.
Twilight Markets and Christmas Carols - Tamborine Village
When: Friday December 12, 5pm to 9pm.
Where: Memorial Hall, Tamborine-Waterford Road, Tamborine
Market stalls on site with Santa arriving at 7pm for Christmas carols sing-a-long.
Mayor’s Christmas Carols
When: Saturday December 13, 4.30pm to 8.30pm.
Where: Broadwater Parklands, Marine Parade, Southport
Along with Luke Kennedy (runner up on ‘The Voice 2013’), there will be local artists including David De Vito, The Lions Den, Candice Skjonnemand, The Full Stops and Bob La Castra, just to name a few. Event kicks off at 4.30pm with pre-show entertainment featuring roving Christmas characters and free Christmas art and craft workshops. The main show starts at 5pm with a spectacular fireworks display to finish off the evening, plus the arrival of Santa.
Christmas at Frascott
When: Saturday December 13, 1.30pm to 4.30pm
Where: Frascott Park, Frascott Avenue, Varsity Lakes (off Mattocks Road)
A fun family afternoon with live music, free sausage sizzle, free rides and activities including an animal farm plus free gifts for the kids from Santa.
Broadbeach Christmas Carols
When: Saturday December 13, starting at 3pm
Where: Kurrawa Park, Old Burleigh Road, Broadbeach
Family fun from 3pm with carols starting at 6pm featuring an amazing line up of performers including the incredible Marina Prior and the ever talented Denis Walter supported by The Boogie Woogies, the Gold Coast Youth Orchestra and the Gold Coast Choir. There will be plenty of food stalls in the park and a spectacular fireworks display at the end of the concert.
Pacific Pines Christmas in the Park
When: Saturday December 13, 5pm to 8pm
Where: Central Park, Hotham Drive, Pacific Pines
The Southland Band, Santa and Rudolf and local celebrities will perform your favourite Christmas carols. There will be free children’s activities including face painting, climbing wall, biscuit decorating, jumping castle, “Ready, Steady, Go Kids” games, Gold Coast Suns kick activity and a visit from Santa. Bring your torch, rug and a picnic, or grab something from one of the food vendors. There will be competitions for best kids Christmas outfits.
Colgate Palmolive Carols in the Park
When: Sunday December 14, pre-entertainment 6pm to 7pm, concert 7pm to 9pm
Where: Colgate Palmolive Park, Allied Drive, Arundel
The concert features talented local acts, including great jazz singer, Liam Burrows, and will be hosted by television personalities, Eva Milic and Paul Burt. Food stalls and kids jumping castle, face painting and glow sticks on offer. Entertainment will be followed by a fireworks display and a special visit by Santa.
Coolangatta Christmas Concert
When: Sunday December 15, starting at 5pm
Where: Queen Elizabeth Park, corner McLean Street and Marine Parade, Coolangatta
Ormeau Carols - A Lot Like Christmas
When: Sunday December 14, carols from 7pm to 9pm.
Where: Brien Harris Oval, Peachey Road, Ormeau
There will be food stalls, free rides, a visit from Santa, Holly and Hunter, fireworks display plus all of your favourite Christmas carols.
Christmas by the Sea
When: Monday December 15, 4pm to 9pm
Where: Palm Beach Parklands, 945 Gold Coast Highway, Palm Beach
Free family friendly Christmas carols with church and school choirs, fireworks, face painters and barn yard animals.
Carols on the Broadwater
When:Saturday December 20, 4pm to 7.30pm
Where: Southport Yacht Club, 1 Macarthur Parade, Main Beach
A free fun family event for everyone - members, guests and visitors. Face painting and glow sticks for the kids with Santa visit at 5.30pm.
Jacobs Well Community Carols by Candlelight
When: Sunday December 21, 5pm to 8pm
Where: Jacobs Well Community Centre and Oval, 27 Bay Drive, Jacobs Well
Sausage sizzle and children’s entertainment at 5pm with Carols starting at 6.30pm. Performances from local talent, a visit from Santa and fireworks concluding the event around 8pm.
Carols on the Beach
When: Sunday December 21. 6.30pm to 8pm.
Where: Surfers Paradise Beach, Surfers Paradise
Get set for a night of Aussie entertainment as host, Jay Laga’aia leads an all-Australian line up starring Rachel Beck, Candice Skjonnemand, Maske Figaro, and the Paradise Kids Choir. Make sure you stick around for a magical end to the night as Surfers Paradise lights up with fireworks.
