CLEAR skies will greet Santa tonight as he makes his annual journey to the good boys and girls of the Gold Coast.

But might break a sweat with tonight’s temperatures set to reach 21C.

However, the weather will be perfect for beachgoers and those planning an outdoor barbecue.

Weather Zone meteorologist Kim Westcott said today and tomorrow will be mostly sunny to kick off the festivities.

“Christmas Eve will be 29C during the day and it will be the same for Christmas Day,” she said.

“Gold Coasters are in luck.”

Enjoy it while you can because rain is forecasted to hit the city on Friday.

Thunderstorms are also possible next week.

Meanwhile, on Christmas Day it’s hard to know what’s open for last minute supplies, a meal out or what public transport will be running.

Tram: as per the normal weekday timetable with high frequency services stopping at each stop between Gold Coast University Hospital and Broadbeach South from 5am to midnight.

Airtrain: services from the Gold Coast to the International and Domestic Airports will run hourly, with half hourly services running between Roma Street and the airports.

Buses: operating on special timetables
