A GOLD Coast woman has developed a skincare potion in her makeshift laboratory which has been dubbed ‘basically a superfood for your face’.

Melissa Stagg is brewing organic ingredients in the spare bedroom of her Burleigh Heads apartment after ditching her career as a schoolteacher.

And it is working. The 30-year-old’s Little Bliss brand is gaining popularity after launching last month.

“It’s been good considering it’s only been a few weeks, it’s been positive.

“I have an online stockist (and am looking to get more in). It’s a big change to start my own business, a steep learning curve.”

Ms Stagg’s decision to change careers began four years ago in London when Mrs Stagg experimented with natural ingredients to fix her troubled skin.

“When I was a kid I would be trying to make fruit face masks, but in London I had a really bad hormonal breakout and my skin became very sensitive,” she said.

“I started doing a lot of research and I even applied for a cosmetic course at Formula Botanica.”

After reading countless cosmetic health journals and testing different mixtures on herself and her husband, Mrs Stagg said she was on to something.

The skincare which includes masks, scrubs and a face cleanser are all brewed from organic ingredients such a coconut, clay, seaweed, coffee beans and cocoa powder.

“It’s basically superfood for your skin,” she said.

“I learnt a lot about how to use different ingredients together. Less is always more which is why I think people are really loving the products.

“The names of chemicals are a bit worrying and sometimes it can just be worse for your skin.”

Mrs Stagg said the whole business process is completely hands-on and self operated.

“I make it myself, package it and then take it to the Village Markets,” she said.

“I launched the website in January so the brand is still pretty fresh but I’m excited for it to take off.

“Little Bliss started with the intention of inspiring women to prioritise themselves. There are so many expectations on women but my aim is to create organic skin care rituals for women so they can spend a few minutes of their day on themselves.’
