A COAST cafe is serving cake by day and turning into an ultimate dinner party haven by night.
Bumbles Cafe, located on the shore of Budds Beach, is thriving selling takeaway cake and coffee but owner Kate Madison is preparing to “mix it up” as Stage 1 COVID-19 restrictions ease today.
When she turns off her coffee machine at 4pm – she will deck out the cafe to host a group of 10 friends for a three-course dinner extravaganza.
“My idea came from my cravings during isolation,” Ms Madison said.
“All I have wanted to do is break bread with my mates, hang, chat, eat and drink,” she said.
“I don’t think I am alone.”
Ms Madison is inviting Gold Coasters to book the cafe space out – from Monday to Sunday – and be treated to a personalised dinner experience for total of $500. Customers can choose the food, arrange the cafe how you like and bring your own alcohol.

Kate Madison said she had been in the hospitality industry on the Coast for more than 30 years.
“Everything has changed a lot since I first opened Madison’s Cafe in Broadbeach in 1988, especially during COVID-19,” she said.
“But I think this rough patch has made us all re-evaluate our lives and eating habits.
“I can’t wait to see how the food scene on the Coast evolves after this.”
