'Bring it back!': Aussies sent into a frenzy over beloved Woolies feature

A vintage Woolworths menu from over 50 years ago has caused a stir among Aussies, who are astonished by the affordable meal prices and are now clamouring for the service to return.
On Tuesday, a shopper shared a picture on Facebook of the Woolworths menu from 1970, which showed a range of cooked meals available at its cafeteria.
The cafeteria was a popular part of the supermarket chain in the 1960s and 1970s until it was eventually phased out.

The retro Woolies menu

"I'm taking orders, please note down what you would like for lunch..."

The menu listed several options, such as a Roast Beef Dinner for $1.10, a Roast Turkey Dinner for 95c and a Baked Meat Loaf for 95c.
Customers could also order a 'Luncheon Special' for 99c which included baked macaroni with cheese, coleslaw, a roll and butter. Dessert was gelatin with whipped topping or ice cream with chocolate sauce.
A cup of soup alongside a beef sandwich, drink and chips, also known as a 'Shopper's Delight', set customers back $1.

"Good old days"
"Bring back the good old days," one woman wrote.
"Dinner was cheap back then," another stated.
Others couldn't believe the prices. "OMG, how things have changed," one person said.
"That's pretty scary when you see the prices now," someone else pointed out.
"All relevant with the wages paid then to wages paid today," someone else noted.
The average full-time worker earned a yearly salary of $7,600 in 1975, which means they made around $20 a week.
