Friday: $1 oysters
Burgster Palm Beach
4-10 Philippine Parade, Palm Beach
BEST OF THE GOLD COAST: FIVE OF THE BEST SEAFOOD PLATTERS
If you’ve got the classic champagne taste/beer budget dilemma, look no further than the $1 Friday oyster special at this cheerful local haunt from 3-5pm ... although they rarely last that long.
Co-owner Peter Smith says the oysters are ordered in fresh every Friday and simply served with red wine vinaigrette and lemon on the side.
“They’re very popular,” Peter says. “They usually tend to run out around the 4.30pm mark. They’re great with a sparkling or a beer.”
Burgster has some fine local craft brews on tap, a selection of classic tinnies and a wine lover’s list of whites, pinks and reds.

Monday: $5 cheeseburgers
Apres Surf
2376 Gold Coast Highway, Mermaid Beach
BEST OF THE GOLD COAST 2018: 11 OF THE BEST CHEAT MEALS
The $5 cheeseburger special at this friendly neighbourhood kitchen and bar could quite possibly be the best thing about Mondays.
Apres Surf’s giant offering leaves its fast food namesakes in the shade with a plump house-made beef patty slathered with mustard, tomato sauce and pickles on a fresh milk bun.
If you’re feeling flush, you can ask them to layer on the bacon for an extra $3.
Owner Richard O’Hanlon says there’s always a good deal and generous serves to be had at his establishment.
“People don’t leave hungry, put it that way,” he says.
If this ticks your box, you might also want to check out the Friday 50c wing special from 5-7pm.
Tuesday: $13.50 roasts

Tuesday might be the traditional night for bargain tacos but if you’re after something heartier, get yourself to Rainbow Bay Surf Club for a good old-fashioned roast night.
There’s pork, beef and lamb on the menu with the full array of veg and lashings of gravy just like mum used to make.
Manager Ben Heiniger says a generously heaped plate goes for $11 for members and $13.50 for non-members.
If the discount doesn’t sway you to join up, then the unmatchable view over the Gold Coast’s favourite swimming beach surely will.
Wednesday: $5 bao
FuFu
2375 Gold Coast Highway, Mermaid Beach
BEST OF THE GOLD COAST 2018: 9 OF THE BEST MODERN ASIAN FUSION
The hump day $5 bao and $5 drinks special is packing them in to this quirky Mermaid Beach American-Chinese diner.
Owners Morgan Walsh and Jessica Forras are serving up light and fluffy baos filled with your choice of lemon honey chicken, satay beef, crispy fish, salt and pepper calamari, cauliflower or mushroom.
They can be washed down with the $5 drinks special which may feature beer, wine or sangria, depending on what’s taking the bartender’s fancy.
For a deal you can’t go past, FuFu also does 50 cent wings and $5 draught beer from 3pm-5pm every day of the week. Winner, winner, chicken afternoon tea!
Thursday: $2 tacos
Aloha Bar and Dining
18 Main Place, Broadbeach
FIVE OF THE GOLD COAST’S BEST COCKTAILS
If you’ve got a hankering for square deal tacos and you can’t wait for a Tuesday to roll around, Aloha is calling your name.
Its Taco T’ursday offers tacos at the knockout price of $2 all night long.
The house tacos are crispy wonton style filled with a choice of regular or spicy salmon or kingfish, kalua pork with teriyaki, chicken or eggplant and tofu.
Nejida Nahle from Aloha says Taco T’ursdays are always a hit.
“We get people booking ahead to make sure we know they’re coming for them,” she says. They’re perfect with any number of Aloha’s sublime cocktails and mocktails, or just a nice cold beer.
