“I AM shaking and my heart is racing.”

The steady hand of Gold Coast hairdresser Sabrina Neugebauer understandably wavered when the title of the city’s best was handed out in July 2021.

The Carrara stylist, owner of Hair Heaven Emporium, landed 43 per cent of the 5678 votes to be crowned best hairdresser in the Bulletin’s Best of the Gold Coast series.

Ms Neugebauer completed her hairdressing courses in Germany and moved to Australia to start her own business – and now owns the nerve-tingling title of the best in the city.

“I am extremely grateful for the people who voted for me and have been very welcoming,” Ms Neugebauer said.

“I am shaking and my heart is racing.

“I moved to the Gold Coast 10 years ago and started Heaven Hair Emporium in Carrara three years later.

“I didn’t start with a lot of clients when I first opened.

“It was all word of mouth and advertising.”

Ms Neugebauer said she prioritised the quality of her clients’ hair, averaging three to four hours per customer.

“They appreciate my time and I appreciate their support.” she said.

“Spending the amount of time I do, I like to give them luxury and give them the best results.”

Ms Neugebauer said her top three style requests were blonde, balayage and face framing.

“I think it’s fun that trends are repeating and there are always little changes which is the most exciting part of hairdressing,” she said.

“I work on every trend and make it my own.”
