Posy Lane Co’s business model is almost as beautiful as their bunches.

Every day they have a fresh arrangement in a mason jar vase for $35 including delivery, leaving the guesswork to the pros.

It might be lavender, stock, snapdragons and gum one day, disbuds, lissies, Easter daisy and matricaria buttons the next.

It makes a thoughtful yet simple gift a couple of clicks away.

9. Rosita Flowers

Flowers are already known for their vibrancy, but Pacific Fair’s colourful flower shop have made a splash with their rainbow flowers.

Starting as a plain white flower — Rosita often use roses — they cut the stem into sections that are then dipped into different coloured food dyes.

The end result is a multicoloured masterpiece.

Charlotte Townley says it’s hard to have a bad day surrounded by natural beauty.

“Each flower has its own unique personality and emotion that it evokes within us. Floristry is an emotional craft ... sometimes you’re creating for celebration or mourning. Each piece is created in honour and respect. We really enjoy working with natives such as proteas, red waratahs, banksias and eucalypts. They are so vibrant and last a long time, so people can enjoy their beauty for longer — perfect for this wonderful Gold Coast climate.”

In the heart of Surfers Paradise, Sarah and Aldo Furci bring floral dreams to life.

“I just like bringing happiness to everyone,” Sarah says.

“We deal with a lot of different occasions, especially birthdays and weddings. I love doing wedding bouquets and table centres, especially because most brides give you a general style and colour scheme and just let you run with it. That’s really exciting because you get to be a part of their big day, but you also get to bring out your creative side and see it come to life.”

After owning Twigs for three and a half years, Leanne Jeffery knows that even though flowers aren’t a necessity, they’ll never go out of fashion.

“I think that flowers just uplift people. Flowers have been used for every occasion throughout history, they help celebrate. You can give them to anybody for any reason. They’re antidepressants and instantly lift people’s moods. Everyone leads busy lives — the world is a crazy place — flowers are just something simple and beautiful to look at.”

Ness Falzon’s humble artificial flower crown side project bloomed into a full floral franchise. “Nesst covers a wide variety of events, which always keeps it fresh (pun intended) and exciting for me. From weddings, engagements, hen’s parties, baby showers and corporate events and then into the world of workshops and photo shoots.

“With all this said, I always love going back to my roots making bespoke flower crowns.

“Without flower crowns I wouldn’t be where I am today, being a part of special days, and I am very grateful for that.”

Imogen Hobbins has found her dream gig and forever career surrounded by flowers.

“I’ve been a florist for 18 years now and I honestly can’t imagine doing anything else. Nothing beats being surrounded by nature’s beauty and having creative flexibility to do what I’m so passionate about. My regular clientele, familiar faces and new customers make my ‘work’ the most enjoyable. It’s such a pleasure creating beautiful flowers for all occasions.”

After 30 years as a lawyer and practice owner, Margot de Groot realised a childhood dream and opened her own florist.

Open just over six months, Flowers on Tedder proudly offers a wide range of beautiful, sought-after flowers, but for her, there’s much more to owning a flower shop than flowers alone.

“We are delighted to be part of the village community here in Main Beach and everything about the shop is intended to make the experience of coming into it a pleasure.

While we are all about stocking beautiful flowers and plants we also have put a lot of thought into our presentation and would like to think that we are doing something special, such as putting messages in the window.

There is a beautiful poem there at the moment by Libby Page.

We want to uplift our customers and give them the enjoyment of coming into a shop where they can enjoy beautiful flowers, have an uplifting experience and place their trust in us to provide them with the service they’re wanting for a variety of occasions in their life.”

Hollywood serves as aspiration for many of everyday people — a love like Jack and Rose, a friendship like Thelma and Louise and a suit collection like James Bond. Margot is no different.

“I’m not sure if you recall the movie ‘You’ve Got Mail’ with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan — Meg Ryan was the owner of a beautiful book store called ‘The Shop Around the Corner’, which her mother had started,” she says.

“It was the shop that many people remembered fondly as fostering their love of reading and which several generations of families patronised. That’s the sort of shop I would like Flowers on Tedder to be.”
