Beauty Diary: Four underrated beauty products you need to know about

A new product range has hit the Aussie retailer’s shelves offering shoppers the chance to snap up an item usually sold at a much higher price.

The Beauty Diary: My winter skincare routine

We’re used to seeing products being hyped all over social media, often because the people spruiking them are paid to do so.

Rarely do we hear about the quiet achievers, the beauty products many of us have in our stash but prefer to keep to ourselves.

But we don’t gatekeep at The Beauty Diary, in fact, I love to spill all the very best beauty secrets.

So enjoy this list of skin and make-up goodies that definitely don’t get as much attention as they deserve.

Bondi Sands Gold’N Hour Vitamin C Serum

Price: $18

Available at Coles

The Australian brand best-known for its killer fake tan range ventured out into skincare at the end of last year – and now a large chunk of the range is available to buy in Coles, including this effective but gentle vitamin C serum. It contains 10 per cent of the active ingredient and works very well considering it costs less than twenty bucks. Vitamin C is known for its brightening abilities, leaving users with a radiant complexion after regular use. I loved that the formula was fast drying, perfect for its ideal use in the morning before putting on SPF and make-up. If you’re looking for a new vitamin C serum without the price tag, this is it. It easily passes for a much more expensive brand.

Dior Lip Glow Balm

Price: $62

Available at Myer, Sephora, David Jones and Adore Beauty

Every time I wear this on my lips, someone will ask me what it is. While it might sound like just another lip balm, the magic is all in the subtle but noticeable hue it leaves on your smackers. There’s 11 different shades, and each one gives lips a natural flush, no matter whether pink, red or purple is your jam. It’s also incredibly hydrating and gives a gorgeous, glossy finish. If you haven’t tried this before, consider this your sign. It truly is one of the best lip balms out there.

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream

Price: $58

Available at Mecca

Nothing beats a no-frills beauty buy that does exactly what it says on the tin (or tub in this case). I’m obsessed with this cream, especially during the cooler weather we’re currently enduring. The reason it is so darn good is because it is jam-packed with squalane, an ingredient even the fussiest of skin can use. It’s super lightweight, helps soothe irritated skin barriers, and is fragrance free. Get amongst it, your chops will thank you.

Dermal Therapy Lip Balm

A very effective, and cheap, lip treatment you can pick up with your groceries. Picture: Supplied

Price: $6

Available at Woolworths, Coles and Chemist Warehouse

Hands up if you love the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask. Yep, me too. But if the thought of spending over $30 on a lip balm has you in tears, we are in the midst of a cost of living crisis after all, don’t worry – I’ve got your back. This budget-friendly salve can be purchased in Coles and Woolworths as well as Chemist Warehouse, and will absolutely bring even the driest, flakiest winter horror show back to life. It contains nourishing ingredients such as lanolin and seed butter to hydrate and seal moisture in without breaking the bank.
