WORLD champion surfer Mick Fanning was spotted ripping through a strong 1.5 metre groundswell at Kirra this morning.
One of his rides, which was captured by local surf photographer Craig Halstead, has already been awarded Wave of the Week by surfing website Coastalwatch.
The Coolangatta-based shredder is believed to be spending the rest of the week surfing on the Gold Coast before heading to Western Australia to compete in the Drug Aware Margaret River Pro on April 2.
