A “MASS rescue” was undertaken by lifesavers at Tallebudgera Creek this afternoon.

Four people attempting to swim across the creek got stuck in the currents of the outgoing tide and needed to be rescued.

Lifesavers sprung into action and pulled everyone to safety around 2pm.

All the swimmers were “fine” according to a Surf Life Saving Queensland duty officer.

On the Gold Coast this afternoon swimmers have also had a rough day at the beach after encountering marine stingers.

The blue bottles have been washed into shore and will likely hang around on Christmas Day too.

The stingers are across the majority of Gold Coast beaches but there is a concentration of them in the water between Miami and Burleigh Heads.

Today the surf is choppy but there are no big waves around, much to the dismay of surfers.

Lifesavers want to remind swimmers to make sure they stay between the red and yellow flags.
