A MAN has been rushed to hospital in a serious condition after being pulled from the water at Miami Beach today.
Emergency services were called to the beach off Marine Parade and Hythe Street at about 10.24am.
The man, described as an “older gentleman” was pulled from the water by lifeguards after having a medical episode.
Senior lifeguard Scott Franzmann said lifeguards performed CPR on the man as they waited for paramedics to arrive.
“Fortunately he was swimming close to shore and between the flags so the response was very quick from the lifeguards,” Mr Franzmann said.
“If he hadn’t been swimming between the flags it could have been worse.”
The man is being taken to Gold Coast University Hospital.
Mr Franzmann said he was conscious and semi-responsive by the time he left in the ambulance.
