HUNDREDS of Gold Coasters have turned out to Greenmount Beach this morning to protest development on the southern end of the Gold Coast.
Councillors Daphne McDonald and Peter Young, who voted against the proposed development, were in attendance along with champion surfer Wayne “Rabbit” Bartholomew.
“We don’t want our children growing up in a concrete jungle,” Palm Beach resident Susan Wilson said.
“There’s going to be no green left behind the Gold.”
Environmental group leaders delivered speeches about the council’s plan for the Komune development, which were met with ‘boos’ and defammatory comments about Mayor Tom Tate.
More to come.
