IT’S Coolangatta but it’s warming up on the Gold Coast following the coldest October day in more than four years.

The Glitter Strip can expect temperatures of around 27 degrees today as traditional spring temperatures return following an unseasonable cold snap on Sunday.

The final day of the GC600 hit just 21 degrees, the coolest October day since 2012.

Humidity and temperatures are set to peak on Friday when Weatherzone meteorologist Guy Dixon said the warm weather could bring showers.

“Today expect nice conditions a mostly sunny day of 24 degrees with a building high-pressure ridge,” he said.

“On Tuesday and Wednesday it should be around 26 to 27 degrees with Friday being the hottest day and possibly bringing showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon.

“It will become cooler again on the weekend.”

Despite the fluctuating weather, tourists aren’t complaining, with plenty taking to the city’s beaches for picture-perfect weather yesterday.

Among them was New Zealand visitors Elle and Hunter Parker from Invercargill New Zealand.

Elle, a 14-year-old student, hit the waves ate Broadbeach on her boogie board and was all smiles amid the swell.
