Don't miss out on the headlines from Beaches & Fishing. Followed categories will be added to My News.
Offshore: Mackerel on Palm Beach reef, try for Spanish around the Gravel Patch. Been a few on the Southport 12's, rosy job fish on the 50 fathoms off Burleigh. Squire 36's off Bayview Harbour.
Seaway: Big eye trevally around the Pipeline and throughout the mid reaches of the Nerang River on the run out tide at night. Live baits worked best for the Seaway with poppers working well in the Nerang River. Been a few whiting around Cronin Island near the bridge as well as downstream from Bundall Bridge. A few bream around the Bond Uni floodgates.
Jumpinpin: Sand crabs throughout Tipplers channel, with plenty of mud crabs in Jacobs Well channel. Flathead along the Measured Mile on the run out tide. Also try school jew opposite the entrance to Swan Bay on the slack tide.
Paradise Point: Mangrove jacks along Sanctuary Cove walls. Remember not to go into the canal systems as it is exclusively for residents only. Also try around Coomera Shores and Coleman's Hole. The odd estuary cod, trevally and jack in Saltwater Creek and mid reaches of the Pimpama near Diamond Head. Plenty of sand crabs on the move around the river and canal entrances in the Broadwater.
Tweed: Mangrove jacks around Tumbulgum bridge and throughout the Rous channel. Worthwhile trying for garfish in the lower reaches of Terranora Inlet and the Tweed River. Been a few trevally in the marinas busting up. Try for flathead opposite Mud Bay, the Piggery and throughout the bottom end of the lakes near the oyster leases.
DIVING:
High tide is 12.24pm at Tweed bar. Visibility 10m; water temperature 24C; 10-15 knot north to north westerly winds; easterly swell 1.5-2m. We are seeing spotted eagle rays, octopus, stripy mackerel, yellow-tail kingfish and giant trevally.
