Gold Coast and Tweed Heads fishing and diving report for December 17

GOLD Coast and Tweed Heads fishing and diving report with Paul Burt.

FISHING:

Offshore: Rough conditions out wide. There have been a few mackerel on the move in close around Palm Beach and Mermaid. A few small marlin on the 24 and 36's, along with dolphin fish.

Seaway: Trevally around the Convention Centre at night on the run out tide. School jew and tailor end of the north wall and Pipeline. Mud crabs south western corner Bundall Bridge and throughout the canals.

Jumpinpin: Chopper tailor around the bar entrance on the morning run in tide, not in numbers. Plenty of dart on the beach gutters using yabbies. Mud crabs Redland channel and around Russell Island. Flathead Cabbage Tree Point north to the Logan River entrance.

Paradise Point: Mangrove jacks around the entrance to Couran Cove, Hope Island walls, a few estuary cod in similar areas caught mainly on the troll. Mud crabs moving out of the lakes into the rivers.

Tweed Heads: Bream and whiting back channels of Terranora. Some nice mangrove jacks around Chinderah wall and mid reaches of the Brusnwick. Plenty of dart around Fingal Beach and Black Rock.

DIVING:

High tide is 8.59am at Tweed bar. Southerly winds around 13 knots; 1m easterly swell. Water temperature 19C. Visibility 5m and improving. Heaps of octopus, lion fish, local dolphins and turtles.
