GOLD Coast surfer Nate Searle wouldn’t be here to celebrate Christmas with his family if it wasn’t for French Canadian Victor Lussier-choquette.
The 24-year-old chef pulled Mr Searle’s limp body from the bottom of the surf at Currumbin Alley on December 18.
Mr Searle, 17, had knocked himself out surfing and was dragged in to shore by the Kurrawa Surf Club chef.
On Saturday they caught up after Mr Searle got out of the Gold Coast University Hospital where he was treated for having fluid on his lungs.
“I was fully unconscious and sank straight to the bottom,” said Nate, son of Gold Coast Titans founder Michael Searle.
“He definitely saved my life.

“It was kind of weird to speak to him because thank you doesn’t seem to be enough.”
He said the two were now planning on going for a surf together.
“He is such a nice bloke, it felt like I was talking to one of my best mates,” he said.
But he is the bloke who saved your life.”
Mr Lussier-choquette said it was good to catch up with him.
“He was super thankful,” he said.
“We are planning on catching up for a beer or going for a surf soon.
“He is going to Canada soon too so I was telling him what places he has to go to.”
