10 of the best vegan restaurants and cafes on the Gold Coast

WHETHER you’re vegan or just want to eat well, there are plenty of plant-based cafes and restaurants on the Coast. We taste-test 10 of the best.

WHETHER you’re vegan or simply trying to eat well, there are plenty of plant based eateries on the Coast serving up a delicious fare. Aquinas College student reporter Philippa Zaphir of Year 7 taste-tested 10 of her favourite local spots for all things vegan.

1. The Mandala Organic Arts Café

I had the child’s nachos which came with gluten-free chips, vegan cheese, vegan sour cream and black bean salsa.

2. Govindas

There are many different options of curries, dahl and raw desserts that are also gluten-free. I recommend this restaurant for takeaway food.

3. Tian Rahn

I had the child’s vegetarian calamari, which was super crunchy, crispy and tasted just like regular calamari.

4. Feed the Earthlings

Feed the Earthlings serves vegan burgers, pizzas and takeaway. I ate a Hawaiian pizza and the ham even tasted like real ham!

5. Greenhouse Canteen & Bar

I had a vegan enchilada that was full of beans, vegan cheese and guacamole. This restaurant offers plant-based food that’s all really yummy.

6. All Time Coffee

I had an amazing doughnut that was light and fluffy and it tasted awesome.

7. Easy House

The beef and black bean with rice was so good. I like this restaurant because the staff were fun and welcoming.

8. Cardamom Pod

I had an acai bowl that came with a really nice vegan granola, fresh fruit, and a vegan meringue on top. It was delicious, plus there are two convenient locations.

9. Blendlove

I recommend trying the sweet potato fries with aioli, which tastes like the real deal, and the range of raw vegan slices.

10. Flour of Life Bakery

The croissants are so rich and flaky, and the pastry which was filled with vegan cream was super yummy.
