A MOTHER-of-three who stole clothing from Target told police a magistrate would laugh the charge out of court.
But when Kirsten Lee Dickinson appeared in Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning that wasn’t the case.
The court heard she took two pairs of shorts and a shirt, removed the tags, placed the clothing into a pram and left the store on December 19.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Reece Foort said she told officers she was distracted and the clothing must have fallen into the nappy bag.
She couldn’t explain why the tags were removed.

“She stated that she had enough money to pay for the items. She stated that the items were only worth $20 and the magistrate would laugh this out of court,” Sgt Foort said.
The items couldn’t be resold.
On Wednesday Dickinson pleaded guilty to stealing.
Defence solicitor Michael Gatenby, of Gatenby Criminal Lawyers said she was embarrassed to be back in court.

Mr Gatenby said he had referred her to organisations that could assist in a time of need.
She was placed on a $200 12-month good behaviour bond with no convictions recorded.
