A teenager killed in a horror e-bike crash on the Gold Coast has been remembered for his “big smile” and love of adventure.

Hudson Gagg was farewelled at a service in Tweed Heads on Friday morning.

The 17-year-old was a pillion passenger on an e-bike when it collided with a Mitsubishi Outlander at the intersection of Tallebudgera Creek Rd and Fenton Drive on September 22.

Emergency services and Hudson’s family rushed to the distressing scene but he sadly couldn’t be saved.

His best mate Jydon Meyers, who was riding the e-bike, was injured and taken to hospital.

Hudson is survived by his parents Gillian and Jason Gagg and older sister Yasmin.

During the emotional service at Tweed Heads Memorial Garden he was remembered for his “big smile, his humour and his energy”.

“The fact that so many of you are here today speaks volumes to Hudson’s impact, he would be so proud and no doubt flashing that trademark grin when seeing you all here in his honour,” funeral celebrant Rebecca Gavin said, who spoke on behalf of his family.

“His spirit will live on in the love you carry and the laughter you share.”

At the time of the tragedy, Hudson was studying electrotechnology at the Gold Coast Trade School, with plans to work FIFO.

After breaking multiple bones playing football, Hudson discovered mountain biking which sparked his love for e-bikes.

“He would ride his e-bike to the beach for sunrise and soak up the start of his day,” Ms Gavin said.

Jydon, who is still recovering in hospital, wrote a tribute which was read aloud by Ms Gavin.

“My heart is broken,” he wrote.

“You weren’t just my best friend, you were my brother.

“We loved adventure and we were always finding fun in the simple things.

“We just got each other. I never imagined a world without you.

“You gave me something I will carry forever, the gift of a friendship that was so pure and unconditional”.

The casket was adorned with white flowers and a hat was placed on a framed photo of Hudson.

“Though his time with us was far too short, the impact he made was immeasurable,” Ms Gavin said.

“His laughter, his kindness, his passion and those little sparks of joy he so freely shared with us.”

“May we think of him in every sunrise and sunset.

“As Hudson would say: ‘Yeah bro, live your life to the fullest and be kind. It’s nice to be kind. See you next time guys’.”

A GoFundMe page to support the Gagg and Meyers’ families has raised more than $15,000, as of Friday.
