Griffith University celebrates 20th anniversary of Logan campus

Griffith University at Logan marked its 20-year anniversary in June with a celebration featuring the university’s VIPs and community leaders including former state Treasurer Andrew Fraser, Substation 33’s Tony Sharp, and YFS chief executive Cath Bartolo along with many academics.

As the university expanded from its Brisbane base at Nathan in the 1990s, Logan was an ideal spot. Meadowbrook was gazetted to be home for Griffith’s fifth campus. And after 20 years, the Logan site is now a vital part of Queensland’s fastest-growing population corridors.

From a maiden intake of 500 in 1998, the Logan campus now has a cohort of 2000 and a reputation as a national showcase of social inclusion in higher education.

Innovative partnerships, industry engagement and degree pathways with a strong focus on community health, education and local business, proved the winning formula.

By 2017, Griffith had graduated almost 9000 students.
