MAYOR Tom Tate will be among the first Australian councillors ever to speak at a Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting during a visit to London this week.

Cr Tate will speak at the Commonwealth Business Forum, sharing his insights into leading a Commonwealth Games host city.

“I’ll be sharing the legacy of hosting the Games and how we focused, not just on the sport economy, but the broader economy,” he said.

The Mayor will then head to 2022 host city Birmingham, which received the Games federation flag at Sunday’s closing ceremony.

“We handed the flag over and that’s not just a gesture, we want to help make sure their Games are successful too.”
