The sister of talented Gold Coaster Tim Caraco – killed in a motorbike smash – has posted a moving tribute to the photo artist who captured 10,000 images for a stunning city timelapse.

The younger sister of talented Gold Coast photo and video artist Tim Caraco – killed in a motorbike smash – says he was the “biggest free spirit the world will ever know”.

Courtney Caraco posted the moving tribute to her brother yesterday, a day after his untimely death when a car collided with his motorbike at a Bilinga intersection.

“Our hearts are aching,” she wrote. “The last 24 hours have honestly been the toughest hours of my entire life. You were the biggest free spirit the world will ever know, so beautiful, so brave, so talented.

“You lived life exactly how you wanted and for that I can smile,” she posted online.

“What a privilege it was to grow up with you ... so many crazy, cheeky memories over my 25 years that we all will cherish and laugh about together.”

She dubbed him the “best damn photographer/videographer I know”.

Tributes have been flooding in for the 29-year-old who spent six years from 2008 to 2014 capturing 10,000 images for what became a stunning Gold Coast timelapse.

He followed his Gold Coast Part 1 timelapse - which went viral with millions of views - wtih Part 2 in a collaboration with the Gold Coast Bulletin and Queensland Government. Here was a photo climbing Elephant Rock from Gold Coast timelapse Part 2. Photo: Tim Caraco

It went viral, viewed by millions and speaking about it after its release at the time, he told the Bulletin he was inspired by timelapse videos he had seen online for New York, Tokyo and Sydney.

“There wasn’t really anything that captured the Gold Coast in that way and we have some really amazing things to see here so I wanted to do it justice,” he said in 2014.

Three years later he released Part 2 in partnership with State Government and Gold Coast Bulletin, taking cinematography to the next level, with images of famous city landscapes and hidden gems using hyperlapse, drone timelapse and slow motion.

“I’ve flown drones over Springbrook, hiked for hours to remote places you can only get to by foot and perched on rocks shooting gorgeous sunrises and sunsets.

“I discovered locations on the Gold Coast I never knew existed,” he said last year.

He recently released a short film Halfway to Nowhere about his travels to Tasmania on a vintage Harley Davidson.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the fatal smash at 8.15am on Sunday at the intersection of Coolangatta Road and Musgrave Street.
