Christmas has come early for movie fans, with the official opening of the only IMAX cinema in Queensland at Event Cinemas Pacific Fair.
The cinema will officially open on Thursday December 19, just in time for the global release of Mufasa: The Lion King.
General Manager of Cinema Operations Australia at Event Cinemas Daniel McCabe said he is proud to be bringing IMAX to the Gold Coast.
“For years, Queenslanders have been eager for a premium IMAX cinema experience, and we’re thrilled to bring this to life for them,” he said.
“With stunning visuals, immersive sound, and an incredible cinema complex, IMAX at Event Cinemas Pacific Fair will redefine moviegoing in the region.”
IMAX Chief Sales Officer Giovanni Dolci said there had been “incredible demand” from moviegoers in the region.
“Queensland has proven to be a vibrant market for cinema, and we’re proud to partner with EVT to bring our state-of-the-art technology to this location,” he said.
“This opening is another exciting milestone in our commitment to delivering unparalleled movie experiences to Australian audiences.”
The Pacific Fair cinema is only Australia’s fourth IMAX, and the first in Queensland.
It will include 4K laser projection and 12-channel immersive sound.
