Looking to spoil the special women in your life this Mother’s Day weekend?

Look no further than a memorable day at Robina’s pop-up markets celebrating all things motherhood.

Recently relocated to Robina Town Centre from Burleigh, the Village Markets pop-up will feature more than 30 stalls brimming with locally made artisan gifts and goodies, along with live music, mini makers stalls and kids arts and crafts – perfect for snatching up some last minute gifts for Mother’s Day.

Some of the Gold Coast’s most creative women will be showcasing their talents Saturday May 11, including business owner Claire Roberts. Ms Roberts lost her own mum 15 years ago after battling mental illness and finds herself among the one per cent of women who struggle with fertility with no known medical cause.

“It’s hard to find the right words on days like Mother’s Day for women who can’t be mothers, or who were and now aren’t, or have lost or are estranged from their own mother’s.

“And it’s equally difficult to hold someone else’s pain when you don’t know it yourself,” she said.

“In creating Morro & Co candles and diffusers here on the Gold Coast, my products carry affirmations on the back inspired by their fragrance which are designed to serve as the hug and words loved ones might not have or know how to offer. I wanted to help relationships and friendships do life better together.”

For Lucy Van De Riet, creator of popular Vandy robes and TVM regular, the idea of a local market for mum appeals as an opportunity to chat with local women, men, and kids, all celebrating the special women in their life.

“I love feeling the joy of kids buying gifts for their mums and the funny stories they will tell me about them. I’m also thrilled my own two daughters will be contributing by making handmade clay beaded jewellery as part of the mini-makers stalls that gives budding junior entrepreneurs a chance to showcase their products too,” Ms Van De Riet said.

Her own business was inspired by her desire as a mum to feel more comfortable poolside and at the beach with her family, so she created a transitional robe that can be worn both inside and out.

“Bringing women together to celebrate motherhood in it’s many forms, these markets have been inspired by local women, and in our continued partnership with The Village Markets (TVM), we’re inviting shoppers to support small, local businesses this Mother’s Day,” Robina Town Centre Marketing Manager, Ashlee Hume said.

Celebrating all women and mothers across the Gold Coast, the Mother’s Day Markets will be held lakeside on The Promenade on Saturday May 11 from 10am-2pm at Robina Town Centre.
