Details are emerging after One Direction star Liam Payne was found dead Buenos Aires.

One Direction star Liam Payne has been found dead aged 31.

The star’s body was found in the courtyard of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, after falling from a balcony

Alberto Crescenti, who is head of the state emergency medical system, spoke on Argentina’s Todo Noticias TV channel and said the star fell about 13 or 14 metres and suffered “severe injuries which were incompatible with life”.

He added authorities were investigating the circumstances of his death and would conduct an autopsy, ABC reported.

He had been staying on the third floor of the CasaSur Palermo Hotel.

It’s unknown if the fall was intentional or accidental.

The star has been acting erratically before his death and reportedly smashed a laptop before being carried back to his room. Buenos Aires police told CNN that personnel from the 14B Police Station attended after a call about an “aggressive man who was possibly under the influence of drugs or alcohol”

A red tent was erected over his body as emergency services responded.

Payne had struggled with alcohol and prescription drug addictions and revealed he had “severe” suicidal thoughts.

Payne was in Buenos Aires for the concert of former One Direction bandmate Niall Horan.

He joined the group when it was formed in 2010 after competing in the X Factor show.

Other group members included Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson.
