A BIG-budget Hollywood war film with an ‘A-list cast’ will be filmed on the Gold Coast immediately after the Commonwealth Games.

A BIG-budget Hollywood Vietnam War movie will be shot on the Gold Coast immediately after the Commonwealth Games.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced this morning in Los Angeles that Danger Close, a film about the Battle of Long Tan which is expected to be filmed at Movie World.
The Premier also met with Paramount Pictures and announced plans to bid for the live-action Dora the Explorer film which will be released in August 2018.
Filming will commence in July this year.
Danger Close will star Travis Fimmel of Vikings fame and will focus on ‘the true story of young men facing the strange, contradictory and brutal truths of war’.
Award-winning Australian Martin Walsh will produce the movie, with pre-production to start in March.
Shooting will begin from the end of April.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the Queensland Government was proud to support the production, which would begin filming around Anzac Day.
“As Queenslanders pause to reflect on the sacrifices of our soldiers over the past century, a film crew will be capturing their very personal stories of courage, honour, mateship and loss,” she said.
“I was moved to hear that Martin, himself a former Australian Special Forces commando, is planning a major Anzac Day event during the shoot, bringing Long Tan veterans, cast, crew and locals together for a special memorial service.
Danger Close’s script was written by Australian screenwriter and director Stuart Beattie, who wrote Pirates of Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Collateral and Australia.
