KARL — the best host city in The Logies’ history wants you.

Gold Coast Tourism (GCT) has written to Channel 9 star Karl Stefanovic to invite him to “discover the new Gold Coast” as their guest — and assure him The Logies will be well looked after when they move here in 2018.

GCT executive director Dean Gould said the Coast and The Logies were a “perfect fit”.

He said GCT predicts the city will become “the best host city in the Logies’ history”.

Of course, not everyone was happy to learn the Logies were on the move, with Stefanovic initially threatening to boycott the awards if they left Melbourne.

The outspoken former Gold Coast news reporter later backtracked, suggesting he should host the 2018 Gold Coast Logies.

“We understand that breaking a long-running tradition of having the Logies in Melbourne can seem unsettling at first but the Gold Coast will take it to a new level,” Mr Gould said.

“So we have today made a special invitation to Karl Stefanovic to spend a couple of days on the Gold Coast as our guest and we are sure he will be an enthusiastic convert.”

Mr Gould said GCT’s proposed itinerary for Stefanovic’ was “a pretty typical and very available Gold Coast holiday” that matched any destination in the world and included:

— A surfing lesson on one of iconic beaches

— Brunch at a beachfront restaurant at Burleigh Heads

— Dinner at The Star’s award-winning Kyomi Japanese restaurant

— A night at Gwinganna Health Retreat

— A helicopter ride to the Lost World Spa at O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat

— A sunset climb to the top of Q1

— A trip to Movieworld to experience the southern hemisphere’s fastest rollercoaster, the Hypercoaster.

“Karl will love it and he will love the Coast,” Mr Gould said.

“He may even relocate here, given he started his TV career at Tweed Heads.”

In good news for Queensland, it looks like Stefanovic has decided to accept.

“The Goldie has always had a special place in my heart,” he said late yesterday.

“And with an offer like this, who wouldn’t love the place — though we should definitely add a XXXX Gold or two at a SLSC.”
