Thandiwe Newton shares cryptic post amid rehab reports

Thandiwe Newton has broken her silence amid speculation she’s headed to rehab after personal troubles led to her abrupt departure from Magic Mike 3.

Thandiwe Newton appears to be wanting to send a message as she deals with turmoil in her personal life.

The actor — who is reportedly heading to rehab amid her separation from her husband of 24 years, Ol Parker — posted a now-deleted photo of a lingerie corset dress on her Instagram Stories that read, “Do We Hate Our Women?,” according to the Daily Mail.

The dress also had the words, “I wonder why we take from our women. Why we rape our women, do we hate our women?” woven onto the sides of the bodice.

The quotes are actually lyrics from Tupac Shakur’s Keep Ya Head Up.

Multiple sources recently told Page Six that Newton, 49, has been battling emotional and family problems, which led to her losing her role on the third instalment of Magic Mike.

A source on set of the movie said, “Thandiwe had been acting strange on set, she has been very highly strung. Her apparent breakdown caused so much disruption, it became clear she couldn’t play the role.

“She seemed so stressed, she even brought her two pet rabbits to her hotel for emotional support.”

Newton and Parker, a British film director, wed in 1998 and have three children together.

The insider said Newton’s team has been pushing to get the Westworld star into rehab “for mental health support.”

The source previously told the outlet, “Arrangements are now being made to go to a facility in Arizona, if she agrees to go.”

However, if Newton did indeed have access to her social media to share her cryptic post, it seems she may not have been checked in yet.

Her rep did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.

After Newton was axed from Magic Mike: The Last Dance, there were many conflicting reports about whether she had been fired following a fight with the film’s star and producer, Channing Tatum.

Multiple sources confirmed to Page Six, though, those reports were false and Newton exited the comedy-drama due to personal family matters.
