Channel 10 is understood to have set its sights on Carrie Bickmore for the reboot of a beloved 2000s game show.

The forthcoming Deal or No Deal reboot from Channel 10 could be set to have an Aussie TV icon as its host.

According to the latest rumours, former anchor of The Project, Carrie Bickmore, is the current front-runner to host the forthcoming series.

Channel 10 is understood to be desperate to get the TV star on board, however, there’s just one slight catch; she might be too expensive for the broadcaster.

“She’s one of the biggest stars in Australia and she comes with a very big price tag,” a source told New Idea, revealing Bickmore’s current rate is believed to be over $500,000.

However, Bickmore reportedly isn’t the only former star of The Project with a chance to bag the job.

Peter Helliar is also believed to be currently in the mix too, and is understood to come with a cheaper price tag.

Deal or No Deal is currently lined up to air at 6pm as the lead-in to The Project - with hopes those eyeballs that tune in to the game show will stay on to watch Sarah Harris, Waleed Aly, and the gang,” continued the source.

“It’d be a win-win for the network, getting Carrie back on TV and hosting a show that could actually get people back into watching The Project - it’s sort of genius.”

Deal or No Deal was produced for Channel 7 from 2003 – 2013, with episodes remaining on air until 2015 before the show was axed.

During its original run, it was hosted by Andrew O’Keefe and became a huge success for the network. However, following publicised person struggles, O’Keefe will not be returning to the show.

O’Keefe was arrested last month in Sydney for allegedly breaching an apprehended violence order.

The former presenter has been in and out of court in recent years, and spent four months behind bars on remand after he was charged with a choking assault on a woman in January last year.
