Sydney Sweeney reflects on Euphoria hot tub scene: “Most disgusting thing I’ve experienced”

Sydney Sweeney says she have never been more disgusted than when she had to film the infamous scene for sexy teen drama Euphoria.

Sydney Sweeney has never, ever been more disgusted than when she had to film her infamous vomiting scene in Euphoria Season 2.

While appearing on the most recent episode of Hot Ones, the actress — who plays Cassie Howard in the hit HBO series, which airs locally on BINGE — dished on the mechanics of throwing up on camera.

“There was a lot of work that went behind that,” she said, reports Decider.

“They had to create — because [creator] Sam [Levinson] wanted, of course, it just to be projectile vomit everywhere.”

The Season 2, Episode 4 scene finds Sweeney’s character in a hot tub with Maddy (Alexa Demie), Nate (Jacob Elordi) and Kat (Barbie Ferreira). When Cassie becomes consumed with guilt about her secret hook-up with Nate, she pukes all over her friends in the hot tub, making for a truly gag-worthy scene.

According to Sweeney, most actors are given a cup of “mushed up anything” mixed with “milk and water” that they must hold in their mouths before throwing it up. However, Levinson — the show’s director, executive producer and writer — did not want that.

“They had to get a pump and they had this pipe that they just taped and hid on my body and then they CGI-ed it out [and] up my neck,” Sweeney explained.

“And there was a horse bit that I had to put in my mouth so during that scene, they’re filling my mouth with throwup. And then I open my mouth and it just starts shooting out of my mouth.”

Evans noted that Sweeney’s scene was much more realistic than most films, to which she replied, “You need the pump. It’s a very insane pump, too. But the horse bit — I was like, ‘Why do we need the horse bit?’ It was huge.”

She added, “It was the most disgusting thing I’ve ever experienced.”

But Sweeney might’ve spoken a little too soon. While she was low-key trolling the lack of spiciness of the Hot Ones wings, she soon learned just how painful things were going to get.

“I feel tingly on my lips. That one might have an after-effect. That one’s building in my mouth. Why?” she nervously asked after trying Da Bomb. “Wow. Is your tongue numb? Why is this happening?”

As the star writhed in agony, Evans told her it was revenge for “poppin’ sh*t” about the prior flavours.

“Goddamn,” she said. “People are just gonna come at me in the comments now.”
