Melrose Place to be rebooted again with returning stars Heather Locklear and Laura Leighton

Some of your favourite stars are heading back to Melrose Place with the sexy series getting the green light for a reboot.

Some of your favourite stars are heading back to Melrose Place!

Decider can confirm that the drama series that first aired on FOX in 1992 is getting revamped with series stars Heather Locklear, Daphne Zuniga, and Laura Leighton on board, the latter two of whom will also serve as executive producers.

Additionally, other cast members “are expected to join the reboot if it comes to fruition,” according to Deadline, which first reported the news.

CBS Studios is reportedly behind the project, which is in the process of being shopped to networks and streaming services, including its original network, FOX.

The new series will be penned by writer and executive producer Lauren Gussis, whose credits include Dexter and Insatiable.

The original Melrose Place is the work of creator Darren Star, the creator of Sex and the City and Emily in Paris.

The reboot will allegedly revolve around a reunion following the sudden death of a “dear friend” of the characters.

“The pressure cooker of a reunion soon uncovers old traumas, rekindles old romances, reignites old resentments, and reveals new secrets… throwing our characters into chaotic drama that’s reminiscent of the past, but with a much more modern perspective,” the logline reads.

While the drama lasted seven seasons until 1999, The CW revived Melrose Place in 2009 for a single season of 18 episodes. Leighton, Zuniga and Locklear all appeared in the 2009 project.

However, Deadline notes that the new reboot is “expected to draw from the original series and not the CW follow-up where Leighton’s character was murdered.”

We’ll just have to wait for more intel on who and what may be in store.
