There was quite the commotion outside KIIS FM’s Sydney headquarters early this morning when the network’s star, Kyle Sandilands, was ambushed by police.

The shock jock was given the heads up from his producers, Pete Deppeler and Pedro Vitola, that several police officers were waiting for him outside when he pulls up in his $250,000 Cadillac Escalade.

In a video shared to The Kyle & Jackie O Show’s Instagram Stories, cops could be seen waiting for the host outside the North Ryde studio at 5:30am.

Speaking later on air, Pete and Pedro revealed police initially pulled over when they spotted the duo standing around in the dark at that hour in the morning, waiting to greet Kyle.

And although the pair weren’t causing any drama, the officers still wanted to check in.

As it turned out, the cops simply wanted to talk to Kyle over comments he had made on air about police having a target on his head. So they waited with Pete and Pedro until the man of the hour arrived.

“The highway patrol dude[s], they’ve come out and they’ve said, ‘Listen, we’ve heard you on the air saying you think the coppers are after you.’ And they’ve come out to tell me they’re not after me,” Kyle later shared.

The radio host said he only has four points on his licence and therefore didn’t believe them, as he’s convinced authorities have a “vendetta” against him.

“You thought cops after you and I thought I’d come and have a chat,” one officer could be hear saying in a clip shared on the show’s Instagram.

It seems the chat went so well, it ended with Kyle ringing up one officer’s fiancée, who was a fan of the radio show.

However, she accidentally let slip that the officers set out to talk to Kyle this morning.

“That's so funny. Did you notice the girl said, the fiancé, said, ‘Oh, I didn’t believe him when he said he was going to pull you over this morning. So this was premeditated,” his co-host Jackie “O” Henderson pointed out.

This would have done nothing to ease Kyle’s paranoia when it comes to police, who producers believe are “obsessed” with him.

The dad-of-one has been watching his back since 2021 when he revealed he accumulated around $16,000 worth of fines that year alone – and he refuses to pay up.

“Sometimes I get away with parking, I’ve seen it with my own eyes,” Kyle said on the show in the past, which his manager and good friend Bruno Bouchet attested.

“There are a number of rangers who will never book you,” Bruno said.

“They’re good people, fans of the show and know it’s more hassle than worth to book you anyway.”
