Bachelor in Paradise: Brittany Hockley reveals Timm Hanly ‘ghosted’ her

Brittany Hockley has accused Paradise boyfriend Timm Hanly of a pretty brutal act when the cameras stopped rolling.

They may have skipped off together into the sunset (albeit very unceremoniously) on Bachelor in Paradise, but Brittany Hockley and Timm Hanly’s reality TV romance proved incredibly short-lived.

In an interview with news.com.au, Brittany, 32, dropped the bombshell that Timm had changed completely as soon as the cameras stopped rolling late last year – and had wound up “ghosting” and even “blocking” her on social media.

“We had said that we were really going to give it a go in the outside world, and he was really excited and made all these grand plans, which is why I didn’t hesitate to go with him,” she explained.

“But that unfortunately didn’t translate – the person he was in Paradise … He was very, very different when we left.”

Brittany and Timm were one of the most solid couples in Paradise.

The couple decided to leave the Paradise resort in Fiji last night and give their relationship a real shot on the “outside” after a series of clashes between Timm, 28, and some of their co-stars.

“I knew he was unhappy and disappointed in his behaviour, so I wasn’t shocked (when he asked to leave.) We were never going to grow as a couple in that environment, he just didn’t handle it well and it was all going downhill,” Brittany told news.com.au.

She added that viewers “didn’t see how close” they became on the show, and that they had been “100 per cent on”.

“He said he really wanted to be with me, but as soon as we got out, he didn’t want a bar of it. I only saw him once and he treated me really badly, to be honest,” Brittany said.

“I just remember looking at him and saying, ‘Who are you? You’re so different to the sweet and kind person you were a week ago’.”

According to Brittany, Timm then told her he “wasn’t coping” and wanted out of their relationship so he could “be free and party”.

The pair – who live in different cities, with Brittany in Sydney and Timm in Melbourne – had just one visit before it all fell apart.

“He came from Melbourne to Sydney and we went to stay with his family, he came to my family Christmas – I don’t take that lightly, and with the way he treated me and the way he acted, I felt I had to apologise to my family,” Brittany admitted.

“It ended in me telling him his behaviour was unacceptable. I was so upset and I was in tears, and I said I can’t be with you when you’re like this, and he said, ‘This is who I am, and this is what I’m going to do’.”

Despite the rocky trip, Brittany said she still cared about him and wanted to be friends – but he completely ignored her once he returned to Melbourne.

“He literally just ghosted me – he didn’t want a bar of me,” she told news.com.au.

“It was horrific behaviour and very uncalled for … To have it all thrown back in your face, I don’t hold anything against him, but I just don’t know what’s wrong with people.”

Meanwhile, Timm admitted to 10Play that he was in a bad “headspace” when he left the show, but insisted his feelings for Brittany had been “very real” at the time.

“I was battling some demons in myself (in Paradise) and I think I took them into the outside. That’s why me and Britt didn’t really work,” Timm said.

Responding to Brittany’s claims that she’d been “ghosted”, he admitted it was a “fair call”.

“I had some personal stuff going on that I was dealing with at the time. If I had my time again I would have gone about it totally differently, but my intention wasn’t to ‘ghost’ Britt and I didn’t see it like that,” he told the Daily Mail.

It’s since emerged that Timm has reunited with his ex-girlfriend of six years, which he confirmed to Hobart’s Hit100.9 Jimmy & Nath show this morning, saying: “I’m in a good place at the moment, I’m really happy.”

Viewers were left confused last night as they watched Timm and Brittany exit the show – seemingly without saying goodbye to any of their friends … and with no one acknowledging their departure.

Watching it play out, Brittany admitted she’d also been “perplexed”.

“It just didn’t make sense … I went and said goodbye to everyone really quickly, I don’t know if Timm did because we did it separately – but it doesn’t make sense that no one even asked where we were,” she said.

“There’s like 10 people on the island, and Timm was the loudest person there – and they didn’t even show anyone asking about us.”

Bachelor in Paradise continues 7.30pm tonight on Ten.
