THE man behind a new boutique bar coming to Surfers Paradise is importing a giant pig’s head as the centrepiece of a quirky six-figure fit-out.
Surfers Paradise entrepreneur Craig Duffy is shelling out $200,000 to create the Tipsy Pig — a craft beer, whiskey and cocktail bar — down a laneway off party strip Orchid Avenue.

Duffy, who owns Hollywood Showgirls strip club (sorry … ATG means “nightclub with a difference!” as per the marketing), is creating the venue in a space he owns underneath.
Part of the fit-out is a $1000 actual pig’s head. It is costing double to ship over from the United States.
“It’s massive, it’s scary as hell and it will be quite a talking point,” he tells ATG.
It isn’t the only colourful quirky feature.
The Ferrari-driving, Elvis Presley-loving millionaire has a penchant for weird and wonderful decor — Hollywood is decked out with pinball machines, throne-like chairs and in internal waterfall.
For Tipsy Pig, he’s also dusting off a $40,000 art-piece coffee table with mechanical moving parts. He has had in storage since buying it on a whim in Las Vegas years ago.

Duffy has a development application for Tipsy Pig awaiting approval from Gold Coast City Council but is hopeful it will go through as “I think this council is entrepreneurial in spirit”.
Duffy reveals to ATG he has done deal for an operator to take over the Tipsy Pig lease and run it once established — but was keeping who under wraps for now.
The laneway will also be home to Aloha co-owner Tim Glasson’s latest creation, a cocktail bar with tapas called Taboo Tiki.
Duffy says Taboo going in and buoyancy in Surfers Paradise generally has prompted him to “activate” the Tipsy Pig space into a boutique bar: “It’s suited to that area, Sydney and Melbourne have shown us those sort of bars have success.”
